Global and Regional Supply Chain Strategies
MEC has developed a supply chain management process that supports Lean manufacturing philosophy while meeting customer needs for both quality and competitive price. Our Singapore International Purchasing Office (IPO) combined with our North American procurement team enables us to source components globally or locally, depending on customer requirements and volumes.
MEC's supply chain management process includes a formal supplier approval process witha third-party audit component. We have a Preferred Supplier program which includes a quarterly scorecard evaluation and business review meetings. Suppliers are measured on quality, pricing trends, service/on-time delivery and partnering activities related to inventory turns, financial terms, internal feedback and communications.
While we do source globally when justified by customer requirements and volumes, we also have strong relationships with several franchised distributors to ensure maximum flexibility at a regional level.
MEC's Customer-Focused Program Teams work with each customer to understand likely demand trends and develop a forecast. We use an electronic datashare protocol driven by MRP to support demand side synchronization. Our ERP system supports organization-wide inventory visibility.
