New service builds small to medium quantities that no one else wants to build

Canby, OR – Screaming Circuits now has online quote and order for it’s new Short-Run Production service. This service is tailored to the needs of companies with low volume, hard-to-source production requirements.

“We surveyed our customer base and found that a large number were unable to find partners to assemble their short-run production without large volume commitments, long-term contracts or substantial NRE charges. We developed Screaming Circuits Short-Run to provide a lower cost alternative on projects which didn’t require the fast turn time associated with prototypes and don’t have the high volumes required by other
manufacturers,” said Duane Benson, Screaming Circuits’ marketing manager.

The new service is focused on products with short lifecycles or annual quantities of a few hundred or few thousand. With online quote and order, this service is very accessible and easy to use. Customers can supply their own parts or we can optionally provide turn-key service, sourcing PCBs though our tight partnership with Sunstone Circuits and parts through DigiKey and other suppliers.

“Companies are looking for a manufacturer who is fast and flexible, and willing to support a project which might have a six month or less commitment. The volumes in the majority of these projects don’t fit well in traditional electronics manufacturing services (EMS) business models because of the combination of the need for speed and short project length.” added Benson.

Screaming Circuits Short-Run customers are able to use the web or phone-based instant quotation, ordering and production execution infrastructure developed for the Company’s quickturn prototype customers. There are no NRE or setup charges, no volume commitments or contracts and customers select their delivery dates, which can be as short as a 10-day turn. Faster turns are handled through the Company’s quickturn prototype
service. If a project’s volume grows to the point where it fits a traditional EMS business model, it can easily be migrated to sister company, MEC (Milwaukee Electronics).
