MEC's Products Offer Motor Protection on USS Ronald Regan & USS George H. W. Bush Aircraft Carriers Situation: DRS Technologies, located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, has been very successful in launching new products to provide communications and motor control support for the US Navy's submarine and warship programs. Solution: When the DRS N2000 Electronic Overload Relay and N2001 Communications Modules are combined with DRS electromechanical motor control, the entire package is called the DRS Millennium Control System. Motor control from the ship's computer network is made possible through some of the products produced by MEC. Results: In addition to basic motor protection, the DRS N2000 Electronic Overload Relay offers the Navy some necessary features, such as phase loss and phase unbalance protection, over-current and under-current protection and jam protection. This added protection can be programmed for a specific application, or disabled if not required. MEC meets the quality regulations required by the US Navy and has US Navy certification.
