Emergency Response Project Yields Ability to Track Mobile 911 Callers

Situation: Our customer was forced to change suppliers, and they needed to transition more than twenty products in a very short timeframe.

Solution: Using our smallest BTS package, a team of MEC engineers worked through the night modifying the software to look only for paging signals from CDMA users in the area. This allowed searchers to triangulate on someone trying to place a call from under the rubble.

Results: Members of the team were flown to NYC to help locate survivors. Though the team was not able to find any survivors, the method did work and has since been refined and implemented to help emergency response teams track mobile 911 callers.
